In March 2023, The Record Co. opened 55 Morrissey in a former radio station. Creative workers displaced across Boston needed more than temporary rooms. They needed space where a business could take shape and stay long enough to grow.
Today, 55 Morrissey holds 88 workspaces and 400+ creative businesses at 95% occupancy. Recording studios, print shops, musicians, producers, designers, educators, photographers, and other working creatives share 35,000 square feet in Dorchester.
55 is the Build stage of one pathway: learn at TRC Academy, work in professional rooms at 960 Mass Ave, then build a creative business here. The rooms matter, but the network around them is what makes the building work.

A 2026 survey of 129 businesses at 55 found that 70% are earning or building toward income, 45% are earning creative income now, and 25% hire or contract other creatives.
